on Higgins Lake — our 3-hour tour

DSC_0265

Terry’s brother, Dan, offered to take us out on Higgins Lake one gorgeous day in September. Dan towed his boat all the way from Texas to tour the lakes up here in Michigan!

Of course, the Great Lakes are spectacular, but Higgins Lake is the most beautiful lake I have ever seen. So many different colors and depths.

Those are Rebecca’s feet danging from the upper deck. Although air temps were warm (in the mid 70s), water temp was only 62*. A bit too chilly to jump off into the water:)

What a vibrant green!

Dan was amazed at the clarity, explaining that lakes in Texas are typically murky.

Tree colors, especially at the north end of the lake, were gorgeous. Unusual to experience such a warm day with those autumn leaves.

Captain Dan gave Christian a chance to drive the boat.

Thank you, Captain Dan! Have a safe trip back to Texas!

Come back next year, so we can go again, please?!?

Returning to Michigan

Back on the Michigan side, we stopped at one of my favorite Lake Michigan beaches along US 2 just west of St. Ignace.

Our young people have certainly grown since we last walked this beach 3 years ago!

Since we couldn’t fit that Sheboygan boulder in the car, this souvenir must suffice for Grandma.

And finally back across the Mackinac Bridge after a week of Wisconsin adventures.
