Yet another 3200 m race in our 3rd track meet of the season. Christian set off at a healthy pace.

Meanwhile, Rebecca competed in the long-jump event.

Terrific jump for your first competition in this event, Rebecca!

We turned back to the track to see that Christian had passed one of the seasoned runners (who won this distance at last week’s meet).

Christian pushed still harder. He won the 3200 m, competing with students from 4 public schools, in 84* weather!!! Poor kid was gasping for air! One of Christian’s fellow teammates calls him “insane” for enjoying these longer-distance races.

Instead of running the 1600 m as he’d initially planned, Christian opted to run the 70 m sprint. He typically doesn’t care for sprints, but he didn’t think he had enough energy left to run another mile in the heat.

One thing I can’t figure out, though. How on earth can that boy race with his eyes closed?

This young man, who wasn’t even sure he wanted to join the track team, won the 1600 m race!

Christian also ran the 3200 m and participated in the shotput event.

Doesn’t Rebecca look intense here? She ran the 100 m and 70 m sprints as well as the 4 x 400 m relay as pictured below.

I’m so proud of you both!
