and camped at an airport.
Along with them traveled Papa.
Don’t they look thrilled? I begged Dad to text some photos to me so I could vacation vicariously.
George Lucas was scheduled to present Red Tails at the OshKosh Fly-In Theater. That is an inflatable screen!
Red Tails portrays the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American Fighter Squadron. George Lucas, the movie’s executive producer, was there in person (the man pictured on the left in this photo).
Several of the actual Tuskegee Airmen who served in WWII were there at OshKosh and spoke of their experiences!
Christian and Rebecca had been looking forward to watching the movie after seeing previews in TV commercials. Only a few minutes into the film, however, lightning shut down the fly-in theater.
Not the best weather for tent-camping, either, but they really had no choice. After a few stormy and drippy hours of sleep, they planned to spend the following day at EAA’s AirVenture.
