As you may recall, Rebecca began violin lessons this fall. She was invited to play, along with all of Mrs. Powers’ students, in a bank lobby as part of a downtown Christmas celebration. Not pictured are several more students off to the left. I should have used my wide-angle lens.
I’m amazed how well Rebecca has progressed in these 3 months. The Suzuki program is exceptional as students first learn to play by ear without the use of printed music. Rebecca is already able to play 13 musical pieces from memory!
Rebecca played these 11 tunes during last night’s program:
Away in a Manger
Joy to the World
We Wish You a Merry Christmas
Jolly Old St. Nick
O Come, Little Children
Go Tell Aunt Rhody
Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
Song of the Wind
Although the final 4 pieces listed are not Christmas tunes, they are part of the Suzuki repertoire,
and even the tiniest students (perhaps aged 3-4?) were proud to play them during the performance!
Rebecca and I wish to thank Mrs. Powers for her bi-weekly instruction and patience 🙂 We also thank Daddy, Christian, Grandma, Papa, Uncle Bruce, Cousin Jeanni, Cousin Jenae, Aunt Nay, and Uncle Matt for braving the crazy crowds and traffic to attend the performance.
