This year, our autumn adventure was based upon Rebecca’s request:
Mackinac Island (as seen from the Mackinac Bridge).
So we traveled across the Mighty Mac once again.
Searching for an inexpensive hotel with favorable reviews, I discovered the Harbour Pointe Best Western in St. Ignace. St. Ignace is located immediately north of the Mackinac Bridge on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. This was the view of Mackinac Island from our hotel room balcony.
Vacationing in the off-season is an immense benefit of home education 🙂 By waiting until traditional schools were in session and planning to arrive on a Sunday evening, our Deluxe 2-queen Lakeside room was only $80.99 one night and $89.99 for the second night. In the summertime, prices are nearly double that. The hotel was spotless and quiet. Beds were comfortable, and the balcony/view was spectacular.
Our room was on the 3rd floor.
This untouched view was to the north of our hotel building. So peaceful.
Lake Huron’s waves create such soothing music.
Ferry docks are located about 1/4 mile south of the hotel. Perhaps this boat would carry us to the island in the morning?
