Voluntary Zoology

We’ve been studying zoology this semester using Jeannie Fulbright’s Exploring Creation with Zoology 1 – Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day.

I bought this neat bug viewer last year when Vision Forum was selling it for half price.  It’s been a great tool for our students.  They keep it on the coffee table–close at hand whenever rogue insects are spotted.

So now we have our very own insect habitat.  Entirely unassigned.  Christian and Rebecca began this impromptu experiment on their “recess break” yesterday.  As Christian didn’t slice the entire banana over his oatmeal, he figured the rest of it would be perfect insect bait/food.

Our current guests number:

1 mosquito

3 flies

6 ladybeetles

FUN FUN! We went through the book 2 years ago.

FUN! And isn’t it perfect when they find things so interesting that they go off on their own to work!
