Honey Wheat Bread

Although tasty for sandwiches, this bread is especially delicious as toast or even a snack. I forgot to photograph the loaf before it disappeared!

* 1-1/2 cups warm tap water
* 1/2 cup honey
* 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 2 cups whole wheat pastry flour
* 2 cups unbleached white bread flour
* 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
(OR 3 teaspoons fast bread machine yeast if desiring to use quick bread cycle)

Measure ingredients into the bread pan in the order listed. Make a well in the flour and sprinkle the yeast into it.

Set the machine to its Whole Wheat Cycle. On my Zojirushi Breadmaker this lasts for 3 hours and 40 minutes.  (Alternately, my quick bread cycle lasts 2 hours, 8 minutes.) Makes a 2 lb loaf.

The honey makes it very sweet and soft. This bread lasts longer than some machine-made breads before going stale as the honey acts as a natural preservative.
