Spark Plug Tossing

On the way home from Walmart, our Expedition tossed a spark plug.  Such behavior is not appropriate for a vehicle.  Rather noisy.  Stinky.  And rumbly.  I coaxed the machine to an abandoned parking lot.

But I’m blessed to have a cell phone.  Although DH works an hour away, my handy FIL was available to help within minutes.  We enjoyed banana and pretzel snacks while we waited for Papa to arrive.

Papa ascertained that the Expedition was stable enough to be driven home.  He offered to drive it, though, in case of further trouble.  The children and I climbed into Papa’s truck and followed him.

That evening, after the engine cooled sufficiently, DH confirmed the spark plug issue which Papa suspected.

Update–the Expedition resumed faithful service today.

Fortunately, the fix cost only $139.13 rather than thousands of dollars.  And we had enough cushion in our checking account to pay for the repairs immediately without a monetary crisis!  Hurray for budgeting (and the biblical financial advice of Dave Ramsey).

I praise God for guiding us through this challenge.  It could have been much worse.  Thanks also to Papa for his help along the way.

Praise the Lord that all went well! You could have been stuck in really awful weather too–it looks gorgeous out!

Glad it wasn’t anything serious and I agree with Kristine. I’m glad it wasn’t the middle of the winter or a fall snowstorm as was the weather here two weeks ago.
