You weren’t invited, Miss Ladybug!

At least my Sprite was already gone.

Yuck. We have these disgusting things that look like ladybugs but are actually Asian beetles. They are non-native and a big pest problem. They hide in the walls during the winter and come out into my bathroom on warm days. They congregate in the windows and buzz people. They look cute enough because they look like ladybugs–but I keep thinking, as I look at 2 dozen of them at a time, what if they were spiders or something else unattractive?

I’ve heard repeatedly that they emit a terrible odor when disturbed (such as when they are being vacuumed up!), but I got brave today and did it anyway. I never smelled a thing and found great joy in sucking those nasty things up. I even found myself humming the Indiana Jones theme song…. And emptied my vacuum whatever-its-called outside in a bag asap just in case.

P.S. Why did I write more on your post than you did??

You always make me laugh, Kristine!

I think this creature really was one of those Asian beetles that you mentioned. Just easier to call it a ladybug, though:) And sometimes they do really stink. Not sure why their stink is inconsistent??? I use the vacuum to evacuate them, too.

While we’re on the subject, let me give you a hint: pre-teen boys make fantastic vacuum goop dumpers. I’ll never dump the vacuum goop myself again (hmmm…at least until Circuit moves out)–LOL!!!!

We get a few of those in the house in the winter. I don’t know why.
