Geography Bee

Today, Button and 15 other homeschoolers participated in a National Geographic Geography Bee.  Such competitions are open to students in 4th through 8th grades across the United States.

Such difficult questions were asked!  You can visit Geo Bee Challenge to view questions from past competitions.  Most adults I know, including myself, would not excel in this bee!

By the way, Button is “the purple girl” in the front and center of the above photograph.

Button gained experience that will help her for next year’s bee.  [I thought it strange that the certificate commends her “winning performance” although she did not win the bee. Hmmm.]  And although geography is not one of Circuit’s favorite subjects, he observed today’s competition and mentioned that he might participate next year.

We’ve never tried the Geo Bee, but I know some of the local homeschool families participate in one. Sounds like FUN! We get our geography from watching Amazing Race (LOL)… not really.. but HEY.. maybe watching it would count for a few hours each year?

Great job, Button, how fun to try something new like this!
