Button’s blessing

Last week I read the following request from our local Freecycle group on Yahoo:

iso: gameboy advanced system with charger. christmas present needed for a homeless 9 year old boy who lost his when his family was evicted from their home. he still has three games, but no player.

For her birthday this year, Button was blessed to receive a Nintendo DS, making her old Gameboy mostly unnecessary.  So, she cheerfully and carefully packaged her Gameboy to be given away.

But, there is more to this story that gives me extra goosebumps.  The woman who posted the request was the person who first told me about Freecycle!  Over 2 years ago!  She works at the “big library” we occasionally visit.

We learned that the 9-year-old boy, named Ethan, is currently staying in a hotel room while his mother tries to earn enough money to rent another home.  Many of their personal belongings, including a pet, were lost when they were evicted from their home.  What a sad situation.  Could you join us in praying for Ethan and his family?

And I challenge you to join your local Freecycle group. Visit www.freecycle.org and search for your city or county group.

What a great way to pass on a game that you’ve loved so much already. 🙂
