Deer at the Oak Tree

Behind our house and to the south, deer often congregate around an oak tree.

This photograph was taken from our master bedroom on the second floor.

In case you’re wondering, that is red fabric tied in the tree branch. That marks the boundary line for Circuit and Button’s independent exploration:) Unfortunately, there will be no outdoor exploration today. Although the temperature has climbed to 13* F, it’s still below mom’s outdoor recess benchmark:(

What a cool view you have! Do you ever feed the deer?

Neat picture. I remember when we were at Minot, ND the schools sent the kids outside for recess in wicked cold tempuratures!

Chris, to answer your question, no. We’ve never fed the deer. I hope it doesn’t offend you that we eat the deer, though:) There are currently 1 1/2 bucks in my freezer. Deer hunting is a big thing here in the redneck area of Michigan. I’ll bet you’re sorry you asked, huh?

Even though I am vegetarian, no offense taken ;). I know in several parts of the country hunting is a way of life and a way to keep population down. I also know all about the licensing etc., my uncle lives in Indiana and used to be an avid hunter. I also feel that it is important to use what you hunt and not just to kill to kill.
